The Journey So Far

The Early Years

I was born in a small mining town in Africa, on “The Copper Belt” in Zambia, where my father worked as an accountant for Anglo American.
My junior school days were spent at a boarding school in Zimbabwe—a different country. Getting there involved a two-day bus trip with three border crossings, which quickly fostered my independence. The small school I was lucky enough to attend was set on 20,000 acres of African bush, surrounded by farmland. This was a remarkable environment for a young boy. Weekends were filled with sailing on the local dam, riding horses, and holidays spent hunting, fishing, or working on nearby farms—herding cattle and exploring the land.

High school took me to Prince Edward Boys High School in Harare, Zimbabwe, one of the country’s most historic and respected schools. There, I learned the value of tradition, discipline, sport, and cultural involvement. The school’s motto was “Tot Facienda, Parum Factum” (So much to do, so little done). These were reportedly the last words written by the British explorer David Livingstone before his death. These words have come to be me deeply important to me. As a student, I initially saw it as a indictment on my lack of academic achievement! But over time, it has become a personal mantra. It has instilled in me a passion to strive for continuous growth and learning, and to contribute meaningfully to society. I am grateful for being part of a journey of ongoing discovery and improvement.

The Early Years

After studying Mechanical Engineering my career began with work experience for Anglo American across several sites and facilities, designing and delivering projects in gold, nickel, coal, and diamond mining.

Later, I joined a multinational consulting engineering group, designing HVAC solutions for commercial buildings—including multi-story complexes and a Sheraton Hotel.

During a gap year in the UK, I was offered an opportunity with Hewlett-Packard, where I applied my engineering background to
computer-aided design & manufacturing, SCADA, geological survey, and ore body optimisation, further fuelling my passion for emerging
technologies.

At 27, I started my first business—an “incubator” where corporate clients
could test and integrate new IT and engineering technologies. This venture was acquired and became part of one of Africa’s largest IT distribution companies, which was later bought by a major listed IT distribution group in South Africa. These experiences taught me so many valuable business and life lessons.

Andrew Wynne Professional Beginnings

Family & Personal Growth

Around this time, I became a father. My wife and I welcomed the first of our two children, Matthew and Alex. I chose to step back from the corporate world to be more present for my young family, which was a hard decision at the time, but something I will never regret.

I began quietly developing my own management consulting business. This was a pivotal moment in my life and career.

Working with multinational clients, I often managed complex projects, coordinating diverse teams across software, hardware, and service
domains. Through these experiences, I observed that often, young technical specialists were being promoted by clients into leadership roles. But importantly, technical expertise or “subject matter expertise” alone does not make a great leader. Leadership isn’t often taught—but I realized it can be learned.

Discovering My Calling

Motivated by this insight, I made a call to return to university. I spent three years studying leadership, leadership development, and coaching at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.

My academic studies opened my awareness of the importance of greater integration of both physical, mental and spiritual domains in our lives. I rediscovered my love of running. I studied mindfulness with a group of amazing international teachers. I began integrating these practices into my life, and my consulting work, and found a true sense of alignment between my values and my professional purpose.

Life Today

In 2016, my family and I moved to Australia, where we quickly settled. My
qualifications and experience opened exciting new opportunities, and today my work is dedicated to partnering with executives across government, corporate, and SME sectors:

  • I am privileged to work 1-2-1 with some outstanding leaders with corporate clients in my role as an associate with the Stephenson Mansell Group.
  • I serve as chair to two groups of founders, CEO’s and business executives with Vistage, the worlds largest CEO coaching and peer advisory organisation for small and midsize businesses.
  • I work individually with a select group of business owners and C-Suite executives developing bespoke leadership development programs, or advising on their strategy and execution initiatives.

My mission is simple: Better leaders. Better lives. Better communities.

Our children have thrived and built strong foundations for their own futures here in Australia, and my wife and I are incredibly proud of them. We are excited for the future, and I look forward to seeing how our story continues to unfold.

What I Bring as an Executive Coach, Facilitator & Strategy Expert

With over 30 years of leadership experience across engineering, construction, distribution, telecommunications, media, and information technology, and as a founder who has built, scaled, and sold three of my own businesses, I know first-hand the realities of executive life.

My journey includes 20 years as Managing Partner of a leading management consulting and coaching firm and nearly a decade as a director of a multinational technology business. I understand the loneliness, the pressures, the risks and the rewards that come with being a business owner, and a CEO.

My passion for executive coaching was sparked by a recurring pattern: I kept seeing talented specialists or subject matter experts thrust into leadership roles without the support or tools to thrive. Time and again, I saw great people struggle, and often fail. I knew this didn’t have to be the way.

Over the years, I’ve worked alongside hundreds of leaders and executive teams, each with unique aspirations and challenges. These experiences, along with thousands of hours of study and ongoing professional development have shaped my authentic, evidence-based approach to coaching, leadership development and strategy facilitation

My Approach

I believe that real transformation begins with deep, unbiased listening. Presence, and the creation of a safe, courageous space is foundational to how I build trust and understanding with my clients. I also trust my clients’ own intuitive wisdomI know they have the answers within them.

Values & Passions

What are Values?

Values are the invisible scaffolding of our decisions and relationships—they shape how we lead, how we show up, and how we inspire trust. When leaders act in harmony with their deepest convictions, practicing presence, integrity, and transformative communication, they create environments where people feel heard, empowered, and able to grow.

Why Am I Sharing My Values?

For me, working in complete alignment with my values is not just a personal commitmentit’s my belief that behaving in this way builds the foundation of authentic and sustainable leadership. I choose to share my values openly because I believe transparency builds trust, and as you’ll see below, “Sharing, Listening & Trust” is my highest value. By inviting you to understand what guides me, I hope to set the stage for honest, meaningful partnershipand to encourage every leader I work with to reflect on what truly matters most for them.

How I Reviewed and Documented my Core Values - Overview of the Minessence Values Framework

After a rigorous review of the methodologies and frameworks available, I chose to use and become accredited in The Minessence Values Framework (MVF), a structured system for understanding, mapping, and applying human values in personal, group, and organizational contexts. Developed over several decades of research and application, the MVF is grounded in values theory, incorporating the foundational work of scholars such as Clare Graves’s research into human value systems development, and refined through contemporary studies in leadership, cultural alignment, and personal effectiveness. The MVF identifies 128 discrete values, organized into clusters and worldviews, and is designed to enable individuals to identify and prioritise their core values within a dynamic, work-related context, offering both personal and professional insight. The framework emphasizes that values are the primary motivators of behaviour and are central to decision-making, loyalty, and commitment.

A Summary of My Values

I have shared a précis of the results uncovered by the framework below, along with the relative weighting of the value (in brackets alongside each value). I have grouped these values in relation to how I apply these to support and enhance my work and personal life:

Value Descriptors
Application in my professional life
Sharing/Listening/Trust (1), Intimacy (2), Transformative Communication (3), Presence/Being (6) and Empathy (7)
Values I leverage to excel in my practice of coaching, mentoring and facilitation
Collaborative Individualist (4), Community Support (5), Synergy (8)
Values I leverage to develop and maintain powerful, collaborative networks of thought leaders and subject matter experts, resulting in synergistic relationships and greater impact than any could achieve individually
Personal Authority/Integrity (9), Self-Actualisation (10).
Values I strive to develop and maintain in order to stay relevant through a process of continuous learning and personal development
